Know When
Deer Will Move
Solunar periods, moon phase, real barometric pressure trends, cold front timing and wind - combined into the best times to be in the stand, in your hunting area's local time.
Why Barometric Pressure Matters
Pressure trends are one of the signals hunters plan around. Many hunters see the most daytime movement as pressure rises behind a cold front, and good feeding activity as it falls ahead of weather. Published research is mixed, so we present it as guidance - and we use the real pressure history, not a guess.
Most weather apps show you temperature and rain. WeatherQuick puts pressure, fronts, solunar periods and wind side by side for your hunting area.
- ✓Rising pressure behind a front = classic movement window
- ✓Falling pressure = feeding ahead of weather
- ✓Storm arriving (pressure falling fast) = game beds down
How the dashboard rates pressure
Based on the real change over the last 3 hours.
more than +0.10 inHg in 3 h · Pressure is climbing fast behind a front. Game is often on its feet as the weather clears - though wind may be strong.
Fishing: poor - A sharp post-front rise ("bluebird" high) usually slows the bite.
+0.03 to +0.10 inHg in 3 h · Rising pressure after unsettled weather is the classic window for daytime game movement.
Fishing: fair - Fish often become less active as pressure rises.
less than 0.03 inHg change in 3 h · Stable pressure means normal movement patterns - concentrate on dawn and dusk.
Fishing: good - Stable pressure tends to bring steady, predictable feeding.
−0.03 to −0.10 inHg in 3 h · Falling pressure ahead of weather often gets animals feeding before it arrives.
Fishing: excellent - Falling pressure ahead of a front is often the best bite of the week.
more than −0.10 inHg in 3 h · A storm is arriving quickly; game typically beds down until it passes.
Fishing: fair - Fish may feed hard just before the storm, but conditions are deteriorating - watch for lightning and wind.

Barometric Pressure Tracking
The real pressure change over the last 3 and 24 hours, plus the 48-hour forecast trend.
Rated with one published rule set - the same table shown on this page.
Moon Phase & Solunar
Moon phase, illumination, moonrise/moonset and solunar major and minor periods.
Computed from the moon’s position for your exact location and calendar day.
Cold Front Timing
Estimated passage time of fronts and pressure troughs in the forecast.
From the forecast pressure trough and the temperature drop behind it.
Wind & Scent Drift
Wind speed and direction, and which way your scent is drifting.
Plan approach routes and stand placement with the wind in your face.
Best Times
Dawn and dusk legal-light windows, daylight solunar periods and front windows.
In the hunting area’s local time - rolling to tomorrow once today’s are over.
Hunting & Fishing Ratings
Separate ratings for game and fish from the current pressure trend, plus wind.
Pressure effects are hunting guidance; research on them is mixed.
